This Nexus Bridging Plan presents the BONEX strategy for Portugal’s Alentejo region, focusing on the implementation of Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) to address local Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus challenges. Measures such as cover crops, hedgerow restoration, and pond rehabilitation were tested on farms, showing potential to enhance resilience and sustainability. Developed through a participatory process involving farmers and stakeholders, the plan also outlines key barriers and policy recommendations to support broader adoption of NbS in Mediterranean agricultural systems.
