On January 16th, 2025, the German Jordanian University (GJU) successfully hosted the Third Workshop organized in the frame of the BONEX Project. The workshop centered on smart agricultural techniques and their impact on the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus in the Wadi Mujib basin. The workshop brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss innovative solutions for sustainable agriculture in water-scarce environments. 

The day began with a welcome note delivered by Serena Sandri from GJU and Mohammad Abu Safi from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The first presentation, given by Dr. Munjed Alshareef, highlighted the initial results from the BONEX Demonstration Project. 

Participants also revisited the key barriers and opportunities identified during previous workshops. This led to an interactive, participatory session, moderated by Dr. Munjed, where attendees discussed the necessary steps to support the implementation of smart agricultural interventions. The session focused on strategies to overcome obstacles and leverage enabling factors to promote sustainable agricultural practices in the region. 

A second moderated session, also led by Dr. Munjed, explored the roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders in facilitating the implementation of these measures. This discussion was critical in identifying key players who can drive the success of complementary measures. 

The workshop concluded with a wrap-up session, allowing participants to network and reflect on the insights shared throughout the day.
