Online presentation on the WEFE Nexus by University of Kassel at the German Jordanian University

In a seminar series tailored for Master Students at the German Jordanian University (GJU), centered around the theme “Discourses on Green Economy”, Nora Schütze from University of Kassel delivered a presentation on November 15, 2023. The presentation was titled “Challenges and Opportunities for Governing the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem Nexus in the Mediterranean Region”. Nora discussed recent scientific literature, delving into the interplay of the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem (WEFE) nexus within the Mediterranean context. Throughout her talk, Nora presented key concepts and highlighted pressing research gaps, underlining the importance to view agricultural challenges through the lens of the WEFE nexus. Drawing from both conceptual frameworks and empirical studies, she emphasized the critical need for a holistic approach to address the complex interdependencies within the region. Furthermore, Nora provided empirical insights by showcasing ongoing initiatives within selected Bonex Demonstration Projects to show real-world applications of WEFE nexus solutions to the students. The 40-minute presentation was followed by a Q&A session and joint discussion.
